President's Welcome
Expanding on a Strong Foundation
The College of Western Idaho continues to break records as enrollment at the school reached a new high for the sixth consecutive semester this fall. Following a trend of consistent growth, enrollment has increased in each semester since CWI's first offering of credit courses in January 2009. In less than three years, the College has grown to more than 8,000 credit seeking students enrolled in 52 degree programs. The rapidly expanding student population is served by over 800 faculty and support staff spread across the Treasure Valley in eight campus locations and more than a dozen community classrooms. Despite the unprecedented growth we have not lost sight of CWI's primary goal: to provide the local community comprehensive, open-access to affordable, quality teaching and learning opportunities.
In order to best serve western Idaho, we have worked tirelessly to develop new facilities that can provide our students with the best possible academic opportunities. Our campaign for expansion includes providing an increase in space for educating, while also strategically aligning ourselves to reach all areas of our community. One of the exciting new developments at CWI is the addition of a new 176,000 square-foot Professional Technical Education Program Center at Nampa Campus that is slated to open for the Fall 2012 semester.
College of Western Idaho delivers college credit instruction, certificates and degrees through its memorandum of understanding with the College of Southern Idaho (CSI). CWI faculty and staff are working toward fulfilling the College's goal of self-accreditation as the school is seeking to reach Candidacy Stage with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) this fall.
We take pride in playing a fundamental role in establishing economic stability in the Treasure Valley. CWI continues to partner with local business and industry to help ensure we are producing some of the most sought after students our community has to offer. Whether it is working to maintain the highest standards of quality in the current workforce, or developing highly qualified employees of the future, CWI is committed to being a catalyst for economic growth in the Treasure Valley.
I invite you to explore CWI's website to learn more about our quality learning opportunities and then visit a campus near you to experience the warm hospitality of our staff eager to help you Achieve More! This is an exciting time for CWI and our community, and we look forward to seeing you on campus.
